What is Testosterone

Human Testosterone Guide

An Overview of Human Testosterone

Testosterone is the anabolic hormone within both men and women which drives growth forward within the body. Obviously, men have an awful lot more testosterone. Testosterone is responsible for a number of bodily functions such as bone growth and sexual development, the list goes on and on. However the one you are interested in is muscle growth. Testosterone is your bread and butter when it comes to creating an anabolic environment where your muscle can flourish like a plant in a greenhouse.

Key Ingredients of Human Testosterone

Testosterone is produced naturally by the endocrine system, where the luteinizing hormone stimulates the testes. Testosterone is in itself an active anabolic hormone, which is then the key ingredient. Normal amounts of testosterone range from one male to the next, within a spectrum of 300-1200 nanograms per deciliters. This is viewed as the normal amount of this ‘key ingredient’ to have within your system.

Effects of Human Testosterone

There are many effects which your natural level of Testosterone can have on you. To begin with the luteinizing hormone which stimulates the testes to produce testosterone plays a major role in the effectiveness of it. High production levels equal good solid muscle gains, as testosterone is very anabolic indeed. This then means that your muscle volume, strength and tone will be maintained. Healthy testosterone levels also maintain high energy levels which of course is essential as a bodybuilder or any athlete for that matter. Other positive effects of testosterone include an increase of the basal metabolic rate, increased self confidence and the increased ability to burn body fat. As you can see, there are plenty of good effects which come as a direct result of high natural levels of testosterone; however, as a bodybuilder a lack in natural levels of testosterone can be detrimental to your progress. The levels of muscle growth which you’re able to achieve will be very much limited, as testosterone is your prime anabolic hormone, which allows hypertrophy to occur. As a result, you will also notice that your strength is negatively affected. This in turn can really knock your self confidence and can also lead to mood swings and depression. These are all common negative effects associated with low natural levels of testosterone.

Advantages of Human Testosterone

By understanding both the negative and positive effects of natural testosterone, it is not difficult to understand the advantages of having high levels within your system. In order to achieve maximum muscle growth, you must be as anabolic as possible. There is nothing more anabolic in your natural arsenal than the steroidal hormone, testosterone. Therefore it is a huge advantage to maintain high natural levels of testosterone. Keeping healthy levels of testosterone also increases your basal metabolic rate (BMR) which in turn allows you to burn more body fat. The basal metabolic rate is the amount of calories required to stay alive without doing anything in a day. By increasing this rate, you can afford to ingest a lot more calories without adding body fat because your body now requires more of these calories just to survive. Therefore your body will be utilizing a lot more of your daily calorific intake. Finally, testosterone allows you to train harder due to the fact it increases strength and energy levels dramatically. All of these advantages then lean towards one common result, a larger and leaner you.

Ways to Increase Human Testosterone Levels

As you know, natural levels of testosterone differ from one individual to the next. Therefore it is essential to know how to maintain your own levels and know how to increase them without synthetic compounds or other ‘extra curricular drugs.’ To begin with, concentrate on training the large muscle groups regularly and intense levels, whilst avoiding training the same muscles 2 days in a row. The trick is to blitz the large muscle groups in particular, your legs, back and chest and to avoid training too often. The repetitions need to be low, with around 85% of your one rep max being lifted in order to boost testosterone levels to new levels. It has been proven that in the morning your testosterone levels are higher, which stands to reason that your intensity should also be higher at this time of day. When concentrating on elevating your natural testosterone levels, you should look at training for no longer than 45 minutes at a time, with intense anaerobic exercise. After 45 minutes your testosterone levels begin to become suppressed, therefore concentrate on this time limit when you’re purely trying to escalate your testosterone levels.

Supplements to Increase Human Testosterone

When looking to recruit new natural ways to increase your testosterone levels, the easiest way to use a testosterone booster. This is a natural supplement and it is essential to understand the difference. Steroids, Pro-hormones and the likes of don’t increase natural levels of testosterone production; they in fact shut it down. Natural testosterone boosters stimulate the luteinizing hormone which then causes the testes to raise your natural testosterone production. Therefore a natural testosterone booster allows your body to make more of its own testosterone, not shut it down and replace it with synthetic hormones. Maybe the most effective testosterone booster is Tribulus Terrestris, which contains an active agent called Protodioscin. Using alongside an estrogen inhibitor will increase your testosterone levels further, as you will have more ‘free testosterone.’ This is because by increasing testosterone with supplements, you also increase your estrogen levels. This is a natural reaction by the body, called homeostasis, which aims to maintain a balance between hormones. However, by blocking estrogen and increasing testosterone you will have a bigger difference between the two, which is called ‘free testosterone.’ Therefore your natural levels will shoot up and in doing so will not put your liver or testes under any strain, because there is no methylated substances or a shutdown involved.
